Affirmations of the week (I)

One of my goals this year is to use affirmations as a way to help achieve my goals and help me get to a healthy mindset that keeps me motivated and helps me accomplish whatever I set my mind to.

Last summer I created a two page list of affirmations that I would use regularly in the mornings.

Of course, I did not even read them 3 times since then.

So I decided to start a new post series that will be focused on a couple of affirmations every week. These affirmations will be read out loud every morning to set the mood for the rest of the day.

Heck, I will write them on my bathroom mirror too just to make sure that I read them!

Affirmations of the week (I)

This week’s affirmations are:

Just keep swimming – Dory (Finding Nemo)

How will these affirmations help?

Do you know that feeling of defeat at the end of a stressful day? You didn’t even have time to sit down and eat lunch. You had extra difficult customers. You’re working on that project that is taking longer than expected and you found yet another problem. You’re taking this difficult class and you can’t seem to be able to wrap your head about all those complicated concepts.

Here’s what we don’t usually think at the end of those days.

You are closer to your goals.

Customer service is hard. And complicated. And stressful. I should know. But you are learning so much from every person that you deal with. You are learning how to manage difficult situations that involve different personalities.

That problem that you found in the project will help you gain awesome problem solving skills that you will be able to use in your career and personal life.

They say practice makes perfection, and with every minute you spend trying to figure out that class you are getting better and better at it. You will end up understanding the concepts in the end, just keep going.

Every little thing that you are doing is helping you to get better at whatever you do.

Just keep swimming.

Being a perfectionist—and impatient—myself, I struggle with wanting to be great at something in no time. These affirmations will definitely help me remember to be patient and that things will end up happening.

    Fisrt of all, I LOVE how the blog looks now, I think it’s so clear and beautiful =) I always say the “keep swimming” affirmation to myself (in Spanish, tho) and it really helps. But, of course, my most used affirmation is keep smiling. It’s been with me for more than four years now and it always makes me feel better and it helps me going on. I think I will really like this series, it’s very inspiring =)
